The Approaches Behind My Work

The main method I use in my sessions is Brain Network Attunement. In most sessions, it serves as an “umbrella” that unfolds in its own right, while also allowing other approaches and techniques to be brought in when they are relevant.

Brain Network Attunement

Brain Network Attunement is a mind-body approach developed by Dr Laura Stuve that brings together emerging neuroscience on brain networks with structured intuition, muscle feedback and acupoint-based techniques.

Rather than treating the brain as a collection of separate parts, the approach works with functional networks — interconnected systems involved in functions such as attention, emotional regulation, memory, physical sensation, self-awareness and executive function. The method draws on research from the Human Connectome Project and translates this understanding of brain networks into a practical framework for mind-body work.

Because Brain Network Attunement is neurocentric, it gives us a way of looking at the body through the interconnected networks between the brain, nervous system, endocrine system, immune system and energy body. This reflects the growing understanding in fields such as neuroendocrinology and neuroimmunology, where researchers are exploring how these systems influence one another.

The BNA approach also draws on research into nociception, pain signalling and neuroinflammatory pathways, allowing us to explore pain and immune responses, including inflammation, on multiple levels.

A central principle of Brain Network Attunement is that every person is different, and that our health and wellbeing are influenced by the life we have lived. Instead of applying a fixed protocol to a particular diagnosis or symptom, structured intuition and muscle feedback are used to identify what is most relevant for the individual at that time.

For me, this way of working is a good fit with my whole-person approach. I am particularly interested in the meeting point between the science of the nervous system, the energy body and the remarkable resourcefulness of the human body and mind, and I find that with BNA.

The founder: Dr Laura Stuve

Brain Network Attunement is the brainchild and the result of the hard work of my mentor, Dr. Laura Stuvé. She has a PhD in biochemistry from UCSF and did postdoctoral research at Stanford, working in the field of human genetics. Laura spent 26 years as a scientist before shifting her focus full-time to teaching, practising and researching mind-body medicine in 2008. She first taught and practised BodyTalk, then founded BodyIntuitive together with Dr. Janet Galipo, and a few years ago developed Brain Network Attunement.

Laura's particular gift is exploring how developments in science can be translated into practical tools for mind-body practitioners.

In 2025, Laura asked me to join her small team supporting the development of Brain Network Attunement, and I am now an instructor and mentor of the method.

BodyIntuitive

BodyIntuitive grew out of BodyTalk, and there are many commonalities between the approaches. This whole-person mind-body approach was developed by biochemist Dr. Laura Stuve and Dr. Janet Galipo, a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, and it has one foot solidly in scientific research findings and the other foot solidly in the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine.

The method includes some very useful reset tools which can be used on their own as selfcare, as part of a full BodyIntuitive session or combined with Brain Network Attunement.

I am very grateful for what the years of intense training in the BodyIntuitive Master Practitioner programme and as an instructor of Elemental Reset have added to my practice.

BodyTalk

BodyTalk was the approach that first introduced me to mind-body medicine. I discovered it in 2005. The approach immediately resonated with me … why not ask the body what it needs?! I started the training three weeks after my first session. After seeing fantastic results with family and friends, I decided to qualify as a Certified BodyTalk Practitioner, leave my job, and set up shop. For many years, it was the primary modality I used in my clinic. I continued my training with all the advanced modules and PaRama, took my advanced certification, and in 2011 I started teaching BodyTalk Access.

Developed by the Australian acupuncturist and chiropractor Dr. John Veltheim, BodyTalk is a whole-person approach based on the idea that the body's systems are interconnected and that stress, experiences and other influences can affect the body's ability to communicate and function optimally.

My experience with BodyTalk laid the foundation for the way I work today: listening to the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all protocol. I still weave some BodyTalk techniques into my work.
